What Do We Cover?

In Craft Photography Basics, we'll be digging into the fundamentals of how to take a good photo of your makes. Here's a peek at our modules.

  • Introduction
    In this module, we'll talk a little bit about some foundational elements to a good craft photography practice, including checking in with how we feel about taking photos and doing some basic prep work before we start photographing.
  • Lighting
    In this module, we'll explore some of the more common lighting issues that can affect the quality of your craft photography, including harsh light, different lighting colors, and artificial light.
  • Props
    In Module 3, we'll be exploring what makes a good prop, how to make sure your props work harmoniously with each other, and where to source props.
  • Composition
    In this module, we'll be looking at the basic rules of photo composition so that you understand how to clearly communicate the subject of your photo to the viewer.
  • Flatlays
    In this module, we'll go through an overview of flatlay photos, including how to set them up and what to look for when choosing props.
  • Vertical Photos
    In this module, we'll talk about taking photos in an upright space. We'll focus in particular on special lighting challenges for these photos and some tips on taking good photos of yourself.
  • Editing
    In this module, we'll be looking at whether and how to edit your photos, including which specific apps I've used over the years and which settings I most commonly adjust in my photos.
